Thank you in advance for logging onto “The Amir Raheem Show“, there are many choices from which to select…I appreciate each person that interacts with my site/podcast. It is my hope to provoke some ideas, or provide that voice while you work online. I have spent many years broadcasting in the US, and once it’s in your blood it’s hard to get away from it. Podcasting has its limitations, however the creative freedoms available out weigh those same limitations. The May 10th protest against illegal immigration got somewhat out of hand as a result of a counter protester. The Palmdale Sherriff Department was called in and one individual (pictured on the right) was detained cited and released. The Antelope Valley Independent Minutemen found themselves being attacked with rocks, hot coffee and many insults. There was much name calling that added to some of the frayed tempers but there were no injuries. Had the Sherriff department not responded with decisive action there was the potential this would have gotten worse. From the interviews that took place, the protesters were maintaining a position against illegal immigration. And the counter protesters took the position, they are being targeted based on their ethnicity. In my opinion until the government takes some real action regarding this debate, the two factions will continue with this social struggle, with violence being the next evolutionary step.

I was born in Los Angeles, CA. in the early fifties. Growing up during that time, the San Fernando Vallley was a simpler place and time. Needless to say I grew up, got married, joined the military, worked as a welder for many years, bought a home in Palmdale, CA. and moved the family to the desert in 1988. Well the kids grew up, I got divorced. Quite working as a welder...got into Bartending (Red Lobster), and in 1995 got my first radio job at the local country & western station. Yeah you are reading correctly...I went on the air over-nights, as C.W. "The Over-Nite Cowboy". From there... on to Chandler Broadcasting (which morphed into High Desert Broadcasting) where I produced several talk shows, which eventually led to producing my own show. Good fortune has allowed me to host both music and talk formats, and I have enjoyed broadcasting ever since.
Being the proud Grandparent of 10, has changed some of my approach toward life and with each year that I celebrate above ground, my mission is revealed in a much more focused manner. Hopefully I am getting wiser as time goes by :-), however you never know until the next BIG mistake. Thanks for logging on to my podcast. What an outrage! It was all on film! The one idiot pushing away the protester, and the other idiot throwing the sign out into the street. They were clearly trying to instigate violence! They both should have been arrested. And what about the idiots on the sidelines? Claiming they had rights too...well, go exercise your rights (if indeed you are legal) on the other side of the street and stop hampering the protesters who are legally using theirs! And stand there and say your idiot friends weren't doing anything wrong? What morons! Yes, this will continue to escalate until there's a full-blown riot...as the city and the oficials stand by and watch it happen.
well that counter protester was an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!! but you guys need to open you eyes and stop picking on the illegal immigrants because both you and i know non of you or any body that your close to is going to go out there and do what those poor people do and especially for not for those wages that they get. and also stop focusing on the Mexican boarder there is also a Canadian boarder to the north.
